The Dutch Open National Aerobatic Championship started on Friday afternoon of the 31st of August with a strong northerly wind with gusts of more than 20 knots. This combined with a much stronger wind in the aerobatic box made it clear that we would not fly right away. The remaining time after the briefing was used for the selection of the unknown sequence for Advanced. In line with the procedure of international championships each advanced pilot could select one figure for each sequence.
In the meantime the wind died down a bit and hope was rising that we could fly before sunset. After a couple of weather briefings it was decided at 19:00 that the expected decrease in wind would not arrive in time. Because of the forecast for Sunday it was decided to skip the advanced known sequence to increase the chance that both unknown sequence could be flown. The day ended without any flights but with some unknown sequences and a diner at Flantua's restaurant.
